Nr5, The sidekick.

With the B5 helmet almost finished and Crow reaching completion, I started on Crows ship.
After setting out the dimentions of the ship, I realised that a cargo ship is pretty big. Even if its a small one.
Actualy its to big for Crow, or any one else for that matter, to fly alone. So Crow needs a sidekick.
uuuuhhhmmm, little problem here, Crow is a loner and works alone. So actualy no room to fit another person in.
But wait, there is a solution. Darn you have to thank Sci Fi for the use of robots 😀

Crow needs a Cyborg, a sidekick she can fully trust on and not a human who can turn his/her back on her.
A Cyborg who helps her with handeling the ship and cargo and who keeps an eye open for her when she is doing her shady busines.
After all, who takes notice of a grunchy robot in a world where robots are as common as cars.

Crow is a person who likes to keep things simple and short, this go’s also for the name of the Cyborg she managed to save from a certain electronic death on a scrapheap years ago.
She salvaged and repaired the poor thing and actualy never took the time to patch up the outside. It needs to work, not to shine.
Besides a old scabby Cyborg dont atract unwanted attention, and that is how Crow likes things.
So she simply named her new companion….Nr5.

As a little background on Nr5: she is a old Cyborg manufactured by BioTech, one of the leading manufacturers of robotics.
She was originaly designed as a worker robot for industry and onboard of ships, hence she misses a realistic looking skin.
Later on she received a program update for space navigation and flight mechanic and served most of her time onboard a big freighter.
The freighter was already out of date when it made a unfortunate landing and seriously damaged the underside and a landing dock.
The company who was running the freighter now faced a old damaged ship and a insurance claim and desided to sell the the ship and equipment to a scap dealer to cover the costs. The Scrap seller who bought it, dumped the ship on a lot and used it to sell of the good parts and never borthered about the onboard robots since they where old like the ship. This is where Crow found Nr5 when she scavanged the shipwreck for usefull parts.
Since she had big trouble to steer her own ship alone, she desided that it was time for a companion and bought Nr5.

For Nr5 I used Sydney G2 who comes with Poser 7.
Mr Sparky made some great textures for Sydney G2, named Vorg. These textures turn Sydney into a Cyborg.
You find a link to his awesome stuf under the Usefull link’s.

Nr5 standard

Sydney looks now as a Cyborg but she misses the scabby looks I am after.
So I fired up PhotoShop and used the Vorg textures as a template and created some new and more suitable textures for Nr5.
And there she is, Nr5 in all her scabby glory.

Nr5 final

Added some displacement and bump and she is good to go.
This was a easy one and didnt need to much work to get the desired results.

Nr5, Ready for duty.

Here are some close ups of Nr5’s head, one with the standard Vorg textures and one with the reworked textures.

I want to thank Mr Sparky for his excelent textures, you find a link to his website under the usefull links.

Kind regards.
